Mozart and Handel - what’s in a name?

Cantabile d'Eymet will perform two concerts on 29 November in Eymet and on 30 November in Bergerac to bring in the season of Advent led by distinguished choir director Dr. David Flood and with professional guest soloists and organist.
Mozart’s spirited Mass in C major K.220 complements the epic journey ‘from prophesy to revelation’ in our selections from Handel’s oratorio Messiah.
We’re delighted to introduce to you our guest choir director for these performances, our guest organist and our soloists.

Guest Choir Director - Dr David Flood
We are privileged to be singing these concerts under the direction of Dr David Flood, Organist and Master of the Choristers at Canterbury cathedral in Kent, England having completed 42 years of service in Cathedral music. He is an Honorary or Visiting Fellow of several english universities including Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent, St John’s College, Durham and St John’s College, Oxford.
Guest Accompanist - Thomas Howells
We are delighted to welcome back our guest organist Thomas Howell as our guest organist, currently studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in England, Organ Scholar of Birmingham Cathedral and formerly Organ Scholar at Chichester Cathedral.
Guest Soprano Soloist - Penelope Martin-Smith
Penelope leads Cantabile d’Eymet with Organist and pianist Adrian Inscoe. She is A B.Mus from London University and Licentiate in Singing Performance from Guildhall School of Music and for these concerts is our Guest Soprano Soloist. As well as directing choirs, Penelope has a career as a coloratura soprano soloist in opera and oratorio.
Guest Mezzo Soprano Soloist - Michelle Harris
Michelle Harris, our guest mezzo soprano soloist is an experienced international operatic and concert soloist who has worked for companies including Opera National de Lyon, Laboratorio Voci in Canti in Rome. Michelle created the role of Sesto in the live televised world premiere of Cavalli’s Pompeo Magno (Croatia), conducted by Paul Esswood.
Guest Tenor Soloist - Paul Young
Paul is a Lay Vicar at Lincoln cathedral and directs the Cabra Singers and Lincoln Chorale.
Throughout his career in teaching and performance in the UK and internationally, Paul has sung professionally as a soloist, mainly in oratorio roles, specialising in repertoire of the Baroque.
Guest Bass Soloist - Adrian Inscoe
Adrian is a widely experienced organist, accompanist and bass soloist whose musical interests span ecclesiastical, theatrical and jazz settings. He has directed choirs and sung as a Deputy Lay Clerk at Canterbury Cathedral, England.
